Corporate Social Responsibility
|
We encourage all Pritchard Englefield people to get involved with community projects where their skills, passions and interests can make a difference. As a firm we are members of the City of London Law Society, which allows us to contribute formally through a range of pro bono projects. On an individual basis, our corporate and social responsibility (CSR) and community work is as diverse as our workforce. Stuart McInnes, a partner, was appointed MBE in June 2006 for his work with DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in the City of London, and our people are involved with charitable and voluntary organisations such as the International Justice Mission through to the Redbridge Night Shelter, the German Welfare Centre and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Pritchard Englefield’s nominated charity for this year is Haven House Children’s Hospice, a special place for special children. Haven House Children’s Hospice cares for children and young people between the ages of 0 to 19 who have life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood. It helps families by providing a range of services that include day, short break and end of life care, together with therapeutic play in the community. Families can find the support they need when they need it most at no cost to themselves. Haven House Children’s Hospice is a charity looking after children and their families in Central and North East London and West Essex.
Locally, the firm is a longstanding sponsor of grassroots sports by sponsoring youth football teams from Brockham Badgers FC (currently the under 15's are sponsored) and from Dorking FC, where the under 18’s football team is currently backed by the firm. The firm has also been one of the sponsors for many years of an annual boys and girls regional football tournament organised by Brockham Badgers that attracts over 8,000 visitors over two days. A partner in the firm also devotes significant time to these projects with the full support of the firm. For more information, please visit www.brockhambadgersfc.co.uk/Brockham2011/ Pritchard Englefield has taken part in the EU-Leonardo da Vinci project "Innotrain CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility in vocational education and training" led by Gilde Business Development Detmold, Germany, with the participation of the German-British Chamber of Industry & Commerce in London. The project aims to help companies implementing a CSR strategy and provides comprehensive learning materials about CSR, including videos on the practical implementation of business responsibility in various companies, business sectors and countries in the European Union. One of these videos was filmed in London and featured Pritchard Englefield as an example of how CSR works in practice. The project's web address is www.csr-training.eu.
